Full Moon in Libra: Lasting Peace in Relationship

Tomorrow, we have a Full Moon in the relationship-oriented sign of Libra. It is a time of renewing the contracts that we hold between self and other. Such ‘contracts’ are agreements, spoken or unspoken, conscious or unconscious. We are catapulted into a new perspective in our core relationships.

With the Sun in Aries talking directly to his Moon in Libra mate across the heavens, there is bound to be a pull toward independence wherever one feels inhibited. In his solar showdown with the partner-oriented sign of the Scales, the Ram goes for exactly what he needs for freedom and will assert him/herself to get it. In renewing our contracts, we will have to accept that - in daily living, we win some, we lose some. In this relationship, there are three: You, Me, and We.

Venus-ruled Libra, sign of “We Are,” naturally urges us toward more harmony and balance in our interactions. But in order to have peace, love, and understanding with our partners, friends, co-workers or family members, we must first realize congruence in our relationship with the Self.

The Sun shines brightly now in Aries, sign of the “I Am” principle, over this weekend of rebirth. The celebrations of Passover and Easter honor divine resurrection, compassion, and unconditional acceptance aka love. How do we honor the Sun rising strong, the ‘I Am’ factor in ultimate glory, while maintaining Libran poise, grace, and balance?

Resonant harmony with the other person is icing on the cake, but the real sustenance is found within. We rest in What Is. There can be no lasting peace found by seeking it in the behavior and personality of an Other; it is realized as a unified relationship with our own Existence, the Ground of Being, seated in the Self.

New Moon in Pisces: The Reality of Non-Duality

These are the days that must happen to you.
~ Walt Whitman, "Song of Myself"

Tomorrow, March 17, we have a very special New Moon in the sign of mutable water sign of Pisces. In its purest essence, Pisces represents the ultimate end game, a deep dive into limitless consciousness. We return to the realm of oceanic oneness symbolized by two fishes, swimming this-a-way and that-a-way, linked at a single point in awareness called Presence.

Pisces reminds us that Existence is perfect As It Is, not necessarily as we would like it to be, nor as it should be according to our concepts and notions. The moorings are loosened, moving us to clear the decks entirely, letting go of any remaining vestiges of illusory control or self-imposed suffering.

This New Moon falls in the very last days of culminating Pisces, just before we step into a completely new round of the zodiac game of life, soon to resurrect into spring with the fiery fresh start of brand-new-life Aries. In this final Piscean emanation, we are poised between incarnations. This is a magical, liminal space between old and new. Very soon, we will be expressing a new form of expression, a new World of perception will be born. So at this New Moon, we experience spaciousness, a portal to relish all that we have lived, learned and processed. We take a deep, timeless breath, for we are about to begin a brand new chapter.

Dissolving Into Oneness

Before we are ready to launch into the fiery initiation of Aries, embodied anew, we experience the dénouement, the climactic dissolving of our previous expression. Pisces New Moon is prime time to turn our keen awareness on the yoga – the union – of pure non-duality. This non-separation is Oneness, Sat-Chit-Ananda (truth, consciousness, peace aka bliss). Here we release all we identified with, before we are rebirthed into a new cycle.

Watch. Witness. Experience. Harness all of the juicy, profound spiritual insight you have reaped over the years. Embody it, express it fully, wholly, holily. You are the ageless, timeless wisdom. Existence needs you, just like this. As non-dual teacher Karl Renz likes to say, “You can only be that which you cannot not be.”

Pisces offers release, to be completely inseparable in the Ocean of Consciousness, the Entirety. It is like dissolved sugar or salt flavoring the ocean of consciousness. Where is the sugar? Where is the salt, exactly? Can it be seen? No, but it can be tasted. In the tone of Pisces, we find the ultimate dissolving into the non-separation. You Are That!

In experiencing, we are living a relative life of apparent of cause and effect – with happenings and comings and goings and appearances in time and space in which we have relative control. But that is a snapshot – a glimpse of a moment – not the complete picture! Simultaneously coexisting within and without this relative experience, there is an absolute space, where All is Ocean, All is One.

Fatalist astrologers of yore liked to focus on Pisces as the sign of ‘self-undoing,’ or the garbage heap where all the unseen junk is stored, somewhat akin to Freud’s unconscious. But I like to see it more as the Jungian collective unconscious, a space where Past, Present and Future all coexist and time and space are only relative.

A significant evolutionary piece is now fully developed, ready to implement in a new incarnation through you, as you. There is a rumbling push from within to self-express, the tone of Aries coming in – authentic assertion. Even if YOU or IT doesn’t fully launch until later in the year, a fresh bud appears that will soon flower. Experience and embody the unfolding.

Full Moon in Virgo: It's Heavenly Holi!

Heavenly Holi

The Full Moon festival of Holi celebrates the vitality of spring, and the blessings of Lord Krishna.

Ah, Mother India! Beauty, beauty everywhere, created by showering each other with vibrant color. Children, tourists, merchants, priests, and mothers. No one, but no one is immune from the paint pummeling and powder play.

(Book excerpt from: The Adventures of Bindi Girl: Diving Deep Into the Heart of India by Erin Reese. Available on Amazon Kindle and Paperback).

"...we fell seamlessly into the ruckus, playing full-out with huge smiles in our hearts. We hooted and hollered, laughingly layering color after color on each other and anyone that moved. Even the village goats and month-old kittens were plastered with paint.

At the jetty park, the Holi play was still going strong as I strummed my guitar. The children swarmed around me, smearing me with oodles of paints and powders. I looked like a spumoni ice cream sundae – and I loved every bit of it.

The kids giggled, clapped, ogled and laughed along with my songs, gifting me with gallons of warm fuzzies.

This is why I lug my instrument around!
Such moments, such smiles, are what I came to India for.
Moments of pure, unbridled self-expression,
And shared, Shakti-filled joy!
