Full Moon in Cancer: January 1 ~ Be Gentle with Yourself
Just after midnight on New Year’s Day, the Moon shifted from
buzzy Gemini into nurturing, self-caring Cancer. While we may have been zipping about during the holidays, socializing, perhaps overdoing it a bit with the bubbly, right as 2018 begins, we are illumined with a Full Moon in a sensitive water
sign that requires us to keep the focus on ourselves, our souls and our
tender hearts.
Culturally, there’s often pressure to push our way into a
new year. If we’re inclined to set goals or resolutions, we would do well to
remember the motto, "Progress not Perfection." Otherwise, a slip straight out of
the gate could make us feel worse. I prefer to think about holding intentions - lightly! - for the coming year. Intentions feel a lot more spacious and forgiving.

Aries: Connect to your intuition, fiery Ram! Take time to sit on your
meditation cushion, under a tree, or flat on your back on your yoga mat or bed,
and go deep inside to listen. You are such a courageous, motivated Ram - sometimes you forget
that your answers lie within. Use your determination and strong will
to discipline yourself to take 20 minutes to tune in. You
must create space to be alone in order to do this.
Taurus: Create professional or career magic this year! You have all of the tools,
talent, and tenacity to bring your visions to life. All you need to do is seize
the moment. You don’t have to know exactly how it’s all going to play out. All
you need to do, is begin! One step leads to another. Stop questioning whether
you finally have everything you need to make it happen. Your time to accomplish
is now. The more magical and visionary your aim, the better.
Gemini: Wow, are you in need of a rebirth. Likely,
you’ve needed a life overhaul for a while now, and finally the Universe
is coming along to give it to you. At the end of 2018, a major part of your
life will be over, and you will barely recognize this phase. The great thing is that you barely
have to lift a finger to make this happen. Your guides and allied energies are
already moving the pieces and players into place. Trust the process and see how
Life is moving you into position, effortlessly.
Cancer: Get grounded this year, Cancer, and stay grounded.
How do you connect to the earth element? Through cooking your own wholesome
meals? Through walking a dog, or practicing yoga asana? Perhaps you need to do
less in the external world and stay at home more. Bring the people you love
closer to your world instead of running around visiting everyone and driving
everywhere. Less is more. Your mind will be much healthier if you relax into a
simple body-oriented year.
Leo: Party, party, party. Woohoo! Fun times ahead for Leo! I know you like that. It’s social
year, once again, for the fun-loving Lion. Your friends will host events for
you to make grand appearances at. You’ll dance, laugh, play the night away.
Stop working so hard all the time. You need to get back into tune with what you
enjoy – friends and theater and concerts and house parties and camping trips and magical
excursions right and left. What a great year on the way!
Virgo: There is no room for shame in your life, dear Virgo.
You must release all harsh judgment of self. An exceptional level of total self-love and
compassionate acceptance is necessary if you want to change habits or
behaviors. Punitive self-talk is going to cause you to tighten up and act from
fear or low self-worth. Start by letting go of the belief that you have to behave
any certain way in order to be lovable and acceptable. In the eyes of
Existence, you are perfect just the way you are. Love yourself into better
health or life circumstances, not through judgement.
Libra: It looks like a teaching year for you! You are going
to be in a position where you’ll be required to share your knowledge and skills with
others. You may also be the student yourself. You may be in a position to learn
from your elders, or those who’ve gone much further down the path than you. If
a mentoring situation arises, be sure to say yes. You’ll need this “passing the baton” approach
in 2018 in order to feel connected to humanity. It will nourish your loving heart to do so.
Scorpio: Any situation in your life where you’ve felt in
bondage in some way is going to come to an end. You, Serpent Eagle, must be free to fly and
soar in your spirit. You must be willing to sacrifice any illusion of comfort
or security and simply leap off the cliff. Don’t worry, you will be taken care
of. The price you’ve been paying to play small or be constricted is simply too
great. This is the year to let go and trust.
Sagittarius: You are going to be challenged to speak up this
year, dear Archer, for the things that matter to your heart and soul. Some
individuals in your family, community, or political construct are simply trying to take
advantage of you or the situation, and it’s your job to say “no!” in a clear
manner. You, Sag, are a part of the evolution of consciousness, and your great vision
and courage are needed this year. Watch for outdated forms of behaving and face
them head on. Watch for ways that people abuse power subtly and speak up for
yourself and others. We need your fiery heart!
Capricorn: Your ruling planet Saturn’s recent entry into your own sign assures that
you’re going to need to roll up your sleeves this year, Capricorn. Get
brutally honest about what needs changing, facing, addressing this year. You
won’t get any free passes in 2018, I have to say. You must act in a mature, thoughtful manner,
even when it’s a drag or you feel like it’s just too hard and you want to go to
sleep and check out. You are not a victim. You can make positive changes but
first you have to let go of blaming others for your circumstances. You
have the key to a better life and it’s called willingness to change yourself.
Aquarius: Relax. Breathe. Chill out, Water Bearer. You’ve
been busting your behind for so long that I think you’ve forgotten how to just be a
simple, enjoying human on the planet. It’s a year to replenish yourself, get
out of your head and let life flow again. You need more music, poetry, art,
movies, sunsets, and lovemaking. Simple as that. You get to receive new inspiration
from the moon, the stars, the rains and the mystical realms. If you keep
working so hard out of habit or cultural superego, you will miss the miracle. Life is short. Enjoy the magic.
Pisces: Solitary creative work is going to be a real help
for you this year, Fish. You need to play with your art supplies, your craft tools, your tarot cards,
and get into your own zone. Try not to think of what you are accomplishing. The
simple act of picking up a colored pen or a pair of scissors is going to lead
you on a journey and help you connect to your own divinity. It is important
that you take regular introspective time to connect to the heartbeat of Mother Earth through your hands.
The result will be serenity, wisdom, and mindful clarity of which action to take next.

New Moon in Sagittarius: Commit to Your Spirit!

This Sunday night, December 17, we have a New Moon in the mutable
fire sign of Sagittarius, the Archer. Most of us have been feeling the buildup
to this lunation for a while - that feeling that something big, something new is bubbling up in our lives. What makes it extra juicy is that we are simultaneously
stretched, pulled toward our greatest visions of expansion and growth –
hallmarks of Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius – AND challenged by restrictive Saturn at the same time.
We are in the last few days of Saturn’s journey through Sagittarius: the godfather of worldly work and karma finally moves into his home sign of Capricorn on December 19. But! Just before he settles into earthier climes of Cappy, he has to make his Big Point by forcing us to COMMIT. In the tone of fiery Sag, we must take a firm stand for what we need to grow toward in body, mind, and especially spirit.

I love the energies afoot. Things feel titillating and challenging, zealous and huge, while at the same time achievable and grounded and real. I love that we are called to
commit to flying high, to going above and beyond our previous limits, while being
forced to have an action plan. To take a stand. To show up and suit up,
set goals, and be realistic.
What does it look like to have our spirit tell us we must shoot for the moon, while keeping one foot on the ground? Quite simply put, it means: results! We don’t just reach for the stars… we actually reach the stars!

But First! Weed Out What's In the Way
With Jupiter’s October 2017 entry into depth-intensity-intimacy-oriented Scorpio, we know we have to have the uncomfortable conversations
with ourselves, our teams, our loved ones in order to thrive; the only alternative is to deteriorate. Whatever is toxic, poison, or
unhealthy has to come up this year and be purged. So look at it this way: if you have to have
a revealing conversation with your boss, your spouse, your therapist about the
hardest thing, the issue that may have shame, or guilt, or terror – there’s
your answer. You need to get it up and out – expose it in a way that feels safe and
healthy for you of course – in order to find your true freedom. You must heed
that call now; you want your Star Foundation to be built on healthy ground.
Now: Commit with Clarifying ConversationsStern Saturn’s conjunction to this New Moon brings a strong tone of responsibility. Not coincidentally, in German, Stern means "star." Language reveals that lasting, bright star quality requires gravitas and authenticity! You owe it to yourself and to Life to speak up, use your words, and make tougher calls.
For many, Saturn is separating the wheat from the chaff and forcing us to eliminate anything holding us back. Another way this could show up is in having clarifying conversations. This could range from anything to the infamous DTR ("define the relationship") conversation between lovers, to having hard talks at work about responsibilities and duties, to financial discussions with family members that may at first seem uncomfortable, but will actually feel refreshing and liberating.
Whatever you take a stand for at this New Moon of Sagittarius will have far-reaching effects. Aim high. If you show a willingness to roll up your sleeves, to have difficult conversations, and trust your calling, you will be supported by Sir Saturn. You will be gifted with a solid scaffolding to build your dream, and you will REALize your greatest visions. Your spirit will thank you.

It's High-Scorpio Season: Plunge the Depths and Commit
We are knee-deep in Scorpio, fixed water sign of the serpent
eagle, the phoenix, the scorpion. Even folks who are used to living with
intensity find that high Scorpio-season stirs up the deepest, often the
darkest emotions to be dealt with. It is a time to fear not. Face the shadows.
Trust the transformation that wants – needs
– to happen in your world. It’s time to plunge the depths.
I know it is scary. I know that Scorpio time can bring us to
our knees. We want to hold onto the old way, the way that feels safe. But “safe”
eventually turns on us. If we do not allow Consciousness to unfold in our
bodies, minds, hearts, souls, it stagnates and becomes toxic. Scorpio wants us
to transform poison into nectar. We face our demons, our bugaboos, the things we dread. We must actualize our potential.
And at this time, this
more than likely involves INTIMACY.
This means, we have to go deeper into “you
and me,” and how we affect each other on core, survival levels. We may have to
talk about finances (big money!). We may have to reveal - to ourselves and another - our sexual edges,
taboos, the ‘verboten.’ We may have to commit to difficult actions that
require self-sacrifice. We plunge deeper in order to fulfill our need for deep psychological
development and growth.
In short, we may have to GO THERE.
As we gear up for the Scorpio New Moon (Saturday, November 18),
we are also building on a very special conjunction of Jupiter and Venus in
Scorpio, exact on Monday November 13. I believe the joining of these two
benefactors, Jupiter-Zeus and Venus-Aphrodite, is bringing us each a new
superpower. Ultimately, this cosmic meeting is revealing a deeper power of
LOVE. Love that goes beyond culture, beyond conditions, beyond what
we thought was possible.
In order to realize this superpower, however, we must
COMMIT.
What do you need to commit to at this time, with not only your heart
and mind, but with your BODY and BEING? Going into the grit now reveals that the
power of love and commitment is a major transformational force. It will give
you bravery, a strength beyond that which you’ve ever known. You will have a
fierceness and resolve to do that which must be done, to realize your greatest
potential. You may have to become more responsible to your self, your profession,
your child, your partner, your bank account, your body. You will have to
tolerate and work with more intensity in this area of life than you previously
knew was possible. And as a result, this area of life will be completely
empowered. GO THERE.
