Aquarius New Moon Meditation and Messages with Erin Reese

Dear Friends,

This Thursday, February 11, we will experience a profound New Moon in the sign of liberation, groups, "the future," and awakening of consciousness, the fixed air sign of Aquarius. This special lunation has no less than seven heavenly bodies (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, and the asteroid Pallas Athena) converging together at once in my own birth sign of the Water Bearer, offering an abundance of new information and creative insights into our evolution, personally and collectively.

I've been guided to host another group meditation to help with integrating these energies and support this transformation. The free call will last one hour. RSVP required.

New Moon in Aquarius:

New Moon in Sagittarius: Commit to Your Spirit!

"Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars."
~ Casey Kasem, American Top 40

This Sunday night, December 17, we have a New Moon in the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius, the Archer. Most of us have been feeling the buildup to this lunation for a while - that feeling that something big, something new is bubbling up in our lives. What makes it extra juicy is that we are simultaneously stretched, pulled toward our greatest visions of expansion and growth – hallmarks of Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius – AND challenged by restrictive Saturn at the same time.

We are in the last few days of Saturn’s journey through Sagittarius: the godfather of worldly work and karma finally moves into his home sign of Capricorn on December 19. But! Just before he settles into earthier climes of Cappy, he has to make his Big Point by forcing us to COMMIT. In the tone of fiery Sag, we must take a firm stand for what we need to grow toward in body, mind, and especially spirit.

Reaching for the Stars - and Meeting Them!

I love the energies afoot. Things feel titillating and challenging, zealous and huge, while at the same time achievable and grounded and real. I love that we are called to commit to flying high, to going above and beyond our previous limits, while being forced to have an action plan. To take a stand. To show up and suit up, set goals, and be realistic.

What does it look like to have our spirit tell us we must shoot for the moon, while keeping one foot on the ground? Quite simply put, it means: results! We don’t just reach for the stars… we actually reach the stars!

Atop 30 Rock. Rockefeller Plaza, NYC December 2017
But First! Weed Out What's In the Way

With Jupiter’s October 2017 entry into depth-intensity-intimacy-oriented Scorpio, we know we have to have the uncomfortable conversations with ourselves, our teams, our loved ones in order to thrive; the only alternative is to deteriorate. Whatever is toxic, poison, or unhealthy has to come up this year and be purged. So look at it this way: if you have to have a revealing conversation with your boss, your spouse, your therapist about the hardest thing, the issue that may have shame, or guilt, or terror – there’s your answer. You need to get it up and out – expose it in a way that feels safe and healthy for you of course – in order to find your true freedom. You must heed that call now; you want your Star Foundation to be built on healthy ground.

Now: Commit with Clarifying Conversations

Stern Saturn’s conjunction to this New Moon brings a strong tone of responsibility. Not coincidentally, in German, Stern means "star." Language reveals that lasting, bright star quality requires gravitas and authenticity! You owe it to yourself and to Life to speak up, use your words, and make tougher calls.

For many, Saturn is separating the wheat from the chaff and forcing us to eliminate anything holding us back. Another way this could show up is in having clarifying conversations. This could range from anything to the infamous DTR ("define the relationship") conversation between lovers, to having hard talks at work about responsibilities and duties, to financial discussions with family members that may at first seem uncomfortable, but will actually feel refreshing and liberating.

Whatever you take a stand for at this New Moon of Sagittarius will have far-reaching effects. Aim high. If you show a willingness to roll up your sleeves, to have difficult conversations, and trust your calling, you will be supported by Sir Saturn. You will be gifted with a solid scaffolding to build your dream, and you will REALize your greatest visions. Your spirit will thank you.

If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost;
that is where they should be.
Now put the foundations under them.
~ Henry David Thoreau

New Moon in Sagittarius: Harness Your Fire

Shiva Mafakheri, Iranian archer
Today, we have a New Moon in the mutable sign of the fiery archer, Sagittarius. The New Beginning tone of today is significant in that the Moon makes a t-square to the North Node in Virgo and the South Node conjunct Neptune in Pisces. The passion and wisdom of Sagittarius is asking us to reconnect to Higher Law, the truth of our personal vision. But this must be balanced with reason and discrimination (Virgo North Node), as well as discipline and focus, in order to put that truth into practice.

Flaming Arrow, David Lee Thompson
The South Node conjunct Neptune in Pisces says yes, at times you must give in to the soul, cruise the river of memories into the past and daydream, sleep in and be accepting of all that is, a perfect blissful oneness. You may feel like bailing on the project, like letting go and floating downstream into the South Node and Neptune Pisces axis, saying “Who Cares?” But the Sagittarius creative tension you feel inside says: you must balance Virgo reason with Piscean vision and dreaminess.

New Moons are always seed-planting times. The scope of today’s lunation is so strong, so karmic, with the tight axis to the Nodes, that I predict whatever we set in place over the next two to four weeks, will come to fruition in June 2017, when the Moon is Full in Sagittarius. You know that goal, about six months out? The time is now to break ground, or take it to a new level.

Sagittarius is a sign of generosity. The ruler of Sagittarius, Jupiter aka Zeus, wants to give you a gift now. You are nudged toward the adventurous, the optimistic, the exuberant. Be open-minded, without being careless or uncommitted. I believe that those who get on the horse, take the lead and cultivate discipline will be rewarded quickly with a rush of fun and freedom into their lives. Think of that carrot at the end of the stick. You cannot avoid the big task at hand anyway – it’s your soul calling. Keep in mind that when you finish, you will feel a mile high. Think about that feeling to come, basking in that glow, that rush of accomplishment.

Remember, Sagittarius knows how to harvest the big picture passion and long-term goals into a blazing arrow that will definitely meet the mark. Yes, Archer energy wants to get down and party all night long with the best of ‘em (I know, I have five planets in Sag, and I definitely love me a good-time hootenanny). If it's not all-night dancing, Sag will have a marathon intellectual salon, or political-philosophical showdown. Still, the Archer at its wisest knows that if it doesn’t practice temperance, that chutzpah will only turn to hot air and, well, gas.
Did I say that blunt ‘n frisky Sag likes to tell jokes, sometimes off color? Jokes aside, the fire needs to go somewhere, so it must be harnessed, and directed.
Keep the creative tension of the nodal square in mind. Sure, lean into Pisces and Neptune sometimes, chill out and watch a movie, float in a hot tub, be a little lazy. You will need rest breaks. That’s part of pacing, and trained discipline. After a chunk of downtime, you’ll be chomping at the bit again. So reel it in, get focused, and you’re off! You will come out of the starting gate on race day, stronger than ever, crossing the finish line like a champ, leaving your competition in the dust.

That’s our beloved Sagittarius at its wisest and strongest. That’s harnessed fire.

New Moon Astro-Tarot Forecast ~ December 2, 2013

Yesterday, December 2, we heralded the time of fiery fresh starts with the New Moon in the mutable, visionary sign of Sagittarius.

Going For It!
Hot-blooded Sagittarius grants us illumination on the Big Picture of our lives. The sign of the Archer leads us to the greatest heights and inspires our soul to fulfill grand dreams, whether they involve international travel, entrepreneurial business, publishing, spiritual enlightenment – you name it. Sag wants you to Go For It, wholeheartedly and confidently.

While the Archer sets its sights on long-distance journeys involving mind and body, Sagittarius’ polar opposite sign of Gemini likes to run around more locally, dispersing information and communicating whatever is passing through at the time. The Archer's use of knowledge is one of well-earned wisdom that takes time to ripen.

The root of Sagittarius, sag, is the Latin for ‘keen perception,’ as in the word sage – wise one. At this time of the New Moon in Sagittarius, we are asked to tap into our sagaciousness – our wisdom, discernment, perception, and farsightedness – to clearly grok the Big Picture of unique lives. This Vision is personal, and usually quite different from person to person – a good reminder to not try to compare your dreams and aspirations to others. They are YOURS. The important thing is to listen to your heart, and take action from there. Sagittarius, like all fire signs, is moved by the heart flame of desire – not the head. Trust your blazing spirit this December.
And, since this is the month of Santa, let’s create a catalyst for our Visions together. Let’s do it now, and send the Wish List to Cosmic Claus! There’s power in numbers. These visions can be big or small. I’ll start us off:

A wish list to Santa Claus:
  • 1.      A reliable, safe, affordable and gas-efficient car
  • 2.      A comfortable home where I can thrive in life and work
  • 3.      A lucrative astro-intuitive and spiritual counseling practice

Try it now:  Start by writing three dreams you know in your heart that you need to have manifest in your life over the next cycle (few weeks, months or years – your choice).  Don't think too much! Share your Cosmic Claus wish list below in the comments section - anonymously if you like - we'd love to hear!

Now, without further ado, let us look at how this New Moon cycle is affecting you! For best results, as always, be sure to read for your Sun, Moon and Rising Sign.

Erin Reese’s channeled Astro-Tarot messages at this New Moon in Sagittarius, December 2, 2013
After purifying the Universal Waite Tarot deck and calling upon my guides and the Divine, here are my channeled messages.

UNIVERSAL CARD (for everyone):
ACE OF CUPS – Divine Trust
We are being asked to plant the seed of universal love and trust in our hearts for the holidays. Let us join together in a firm commitment of embodying metta, or loving-kindness, in our daily activities this December. It’s a stressful time of year for folks, and it’s often challenging to be kind and patient when there’s such a flurry of chaotic energy about. Often, we snap at each other when we’re under pressure, but this year, with this warm Sagittarius spirit flowing through, we can be the bigger-hearted person. Love is the guide. Share with others, be open, and TRUST the Divine has our back. Every day, at least once, say to yourself, “I trust…”

ARIES:
FIVE OF SWORDS
Revved-up Ram, you can be a bit hot-headed and combative with those you love, especially when you’re under pressure. When anyone or anything, or any tough life circumstance gets in your way, you’re the first sign to say, “There will be butts to kick and names to take.” This is not going to work in December. Rather, it will backfire. Do not pass go and return immediately to the Universal Card (see above) and practice your loving-kindness approach: “I trust…” Simply refuse to interrupt or be argumentative this month. The love you receive in turn will warm your heart no end!

TAURUS:
SIX OF WANDS
Taurus, you’ve recently hit a jackpot and you’ve achieved something worth tooting your bull horns about! Normally, you’re quite placid and don’t squawk too much about your achievements, but you deserve to shine now. Don’t be shy, let it out and tell the world. Receive your heart-earned accolades and praise. Enjoy it while you can. Likely a gift or reward has rolled in (or will quite soon!) involving other folks’ efforts and contributions, too. Huzzah!
GEMINI:
SEVEN OF CUPS
Do not get deluded by fantasies of grandeur right now, Gem. Distractions are lapping at your heels, so stay focused. As Thoreau said, "If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them." That’s your task now, busy one. Move out of la-la land. You’ve got to be a bit more realistic about your visions now, consolidating all the ideas you’ve concocted over the past seven years. Whether your vision involves your profession, your relationship, business, or family, if you focus on one thing at a time, you’ll get practical results.
CANCER:
QUEEN OF WANDS
Now is the time for you to stoke the fire of your heart with regard to your professional and creative ambitions, Cancer! You’ve got the leadership ability and incentive to move your goals further now, and we look to your loving approach as a model for what we can do, too. We love how you refrain from using an iron fist to achieve your professional goals. Your graceful touch ensures you can have it all – a real work/life balance. You’re glowing, Crab. Burn bright in the career spotlight.
LEO:
TEN OF PENTACLES
It’s party time, Leo! Have a ball in your community this month, whether that includes family, work pals, or your homies. It’s time to participate in festivities, whether as a guest or as host of a holiday affair. You are clearly a star player. When you get in the mood, you Leos love your parties, and your people need you to show up in a major way now. Share gifts and love with the world and your connections and bonds will be strengthened. You’ll receive praise and reward in return.

VIRGO:
NINE OF CUPS
You are in fine spirits and feel blessed in a million ways, Virgo. It appears you’ve been doing your good work of cultivating an attitude of gratitude, and it’s paying off. You’re learning to appreciate all that you have. The great news is that now the Universe rewards you with even more of what you want and need in return. Be sure to gift yourself a new treat this holiday season – whatever you want! You’ve worked so hard this year. You really deserve it, whether it’s something for the home, or something to wear that makes you feel cozy and comfortable. Enjoy.

LIBRA:
TWO OF WANDS
Your creative and entrepreneurial visions abound now, dear Libra. It’s a great time to take your art and beauty out in the world and to a whole new level. Maybe you can attend more art shows, host events or workshops, or develop a painting or photography hobby that could turn into a business later. It’s also possible you will do more travel to stimulate your soul in 2014, so now is a good time to make a Vision Collage Board to dream up where you’d like to go. Your ideas are starting to pour in. Where do you want to take your soul on a journey? The world is your oyster!

SCORPIO:
TWO OF SWORDS
The stern taskmaster and teacher planet Saturn is in your sign, Scorpio, so things can be hard for you while you learn all these new lessons. You may be feeling stuck between a rock and hard place of late. The trick is to take it in stride while you face each task and emotional situation from moment to moment. Over-analyzing will get you absolutely nowhere. On the other hand, ACTION – practical, hands-on steps, will take you far. Stop thinking and instead keep moving.

SAGITTARIUS:
DEATH
Now, don’t freak out, dear Archer. The Death card is a powerful, wonderful card of transition and transformation! It’s your time of REBIRTH and new beginnings. In other words, “Go Sag, it’s your birthday!” It’s time to dump all that old junk that weighed you down in 2013. Lighten your emotional load. Renew and prep for a completely new start now – don’t wait for the New Year! This week is the time to begin. Make big plans for big changes and the Universe will support you all the way!

CAPRICORN:
ACE OF WANDS
This year's holiday season proves to be a particularly spiritual and soulful time for you, Cap. Bring the light of Spirit into your life with candles, twinkling lights and burning hearths. Fill your soul with choirs of angels and choruses of carolers. Holiday services can be meaningful and inspiring. It’s time for you to reopen your heart and mind to the real spirit of the season, including Solstice. This will help you from getting too heavy and earth-bound during the darker seasons. This year, you will remind the rest of us what the Yuletide is all about. Fire up your heart flame!
AQUARIUS:
THE EMPEROR
Structure your Big Picture vision, Aquarius, and make it real now! Talk is cheap, as you know, and you’re better than most at completing projects you begin. Make it so! You’re implementing dreams right and left. Honor your inner father figure, or actual father, this coming 2014, by laying down strong foundations of stability. The Emperor is on your side. Build it, and support will come. Manifestation is your theme.

PISCES:
ACE OF PENTACLES
Fish, it’s time for you to regenerate and rejuvenate your professional life goals. Don’t put this off. You can establish new benchmarks for your financial freedom project. You are due for a work and career life makeover and Cosmic Claus wants to help you do this now. The Sagittarius New Moon generosity is supporting you to bring new opportunities for earning. Ask yourself where you can spruce up your public image, i.e. your website, business card, or community notoriety. The gods want you to receive a lot of money next year precisely for being who you are!

Show Me the Way: Allies, Teachers, and Guides

I was recently invited to discuss India, Travel, and Following Your Dreams with a group of 9th graders. I was honored and excited to make this presentation at Marin Catholic School because I was strongly influenced by interesting adults throughout my childhood, those who did something totally out of the ordinary. I still recall the teachers and artists that touched my heart, and the non-traditional adults who told me, "Erin, you can do whatever you want in life, especially if you do well in school. Get the best grades you can and you can go far, far, far." So I did. I believed them, and I took it to heart. I busted my behind and got scholarships that paid my way through university. There, I learned how to focus, finish, and be accountable to an incredible amount of hard work.

The most influential teacher I had was Mr. Huber, my 7th grade English teacher. That very first day of class, he told us to sit down and keep a journal every single school day, and we would be graded on it. He promised not to read what we wrote if we stapled the page shut, but he would check our journals to make sure we wrote something each morning. We could write about a good meal we had the night before, or a boy we had a crush on, or a funny movie we saw last weekend. Anything at all. But we had to write at least a paragraph every single morning. Thus, my first disciplined "Morning Pages" a la Julia Cameron's The Artists Way began at age eleven.

Writing daily stuck. I never stopped! I have all those notebooks stuffed inside box after box, surely to provide fodder for something, somewhere.

Outside of school as a pre-teen, I read all of young adult author Judy Blume's books (Are You There God? It's Me Margaret, etc.). Blume's work touched me so deeply that I sat down and wrote a post letter to her via her publisher. Several weeks later, I received an actual reply in the snail mail, with her photograph, autograph and a hand-written thank you. I was so inspired I could barely breathe.

So, when requested to present to a Global Studies class of 9th graders on the topic of India, Travel, and Following Your Dreams, you can bet I showed up. I donned a traditional Indian outfit (salwar kameez), plastered a bindi on my forehead, loaded up my wrists with sparkly bangles, and toted along my Bindi Girl book and a short video presentation with stills from my upcoming sequel, which you can view right here...

Remember that our story and our experiences may inspire another, young or old, to take the plunge and live their heart's dreams. We must stand tall as examples that anything is possible. My current artist's motto is: "Don't listen to anyone about anything, ever." Sounds extreme, I know, but here I mean, ignore the naysayers. I mean that if someone says the economy is bad and we shouldn't try x, y, or z, ignore them. If they say that you're too old or too financially unstable to go off traveling, or you don't have enough credentials to apply for a job that sounds great to you, plug your ears. Sometimes we need to ignore rational, common sense precisely because it is common and we are being called to create something brand new. Nothing is impossible. As I quote Goethe in my book, The Adventures of Bindi Girl:

"Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it."

Align yourself with believing mirrors and pioneering folks who have busted out of the status quo to forge new territories. Sync up with those who put their faith in their vision more than the current paradigm. Let them be your allies, your cheerleaders, your teachers and guides.

Namaste,
Erin

The Alchemy of Completion

Temperance (Alchemy) tarot card
If you’re at all like me, you’re a restless, adventurous spirit. This does not always stem from dissatisfaction with the way things are; it comes from being energetic, creative, growth-oriented, and ALIVE. I am motivated and excited by life when I’m learning, changing, and accomplishing new things. When Life is seemingly stagnant, I get nervous, edgy, and fearful that – for shame! – I’m getting stuck. And being stuck is a death knell for adventurous people!

But sometimes, the path to the next adventure is not clear – at all. We have no idea what Life is telling us. Life is holding out on delivering our next big mission, our next vision. We may be asking the right questions, we might be making a bucket list, we might be asking the Divine, our dreams, or our friends for guidance. But nothing comes. We grumble and fret: “Am I dead? Is life over already?”

If we’re feeling stuck or just plain tired of coasting (because that gets boring too) and we’re clearly restless, there might be another solution:

THERE’S SOMETHING YOU NEED TO FINISH.

Yes, finish. Bring to completion. You know what it is: that nagging project, relationship matter, ambition that you’ve set aside or buried so far deep in your subconscious, denying that it matters, that you’ve conveniently ‘forgot’ for the time being. Yet, your true self has NOT forgotten: you pledged you’d do it someday. You promised yourself you’d finish. You told yourself you wouldn’t give up until you had done it, made the big change, achieved the aim.

The thing is, goals and dreams and other desires have magnetism of their own. They become real, like people. We may squelch their voices, but they don’t forget us! Dreams come ‘round for our attention, nagging our subconscious until we pay attention. It’s much easier to put the focus on something else: our partner, our kids, a new ‘big idea.’ But that old Thing You Promised You’d Do will not let up.

What do you need to finish in 2013?

Perhaps instead of looking Way Over Yonder to the next vista, we would do well to complete something in the Here and Now. Maybe that thing is too daunting to tackle all at once, today. We can start by creating the Alchemy of Completion within ourselves, symbolically, to get the wheels turning. Start harmonizing yourself with others and your environment with a mind to completing your Golden Task.

First, identify what has been nagging you.
It’s likely a significant goal, and something uncomfortable to face (otherwise you would have done it already!) but you know it's important in the long run. Is it a career move you need to make? A relationship you need to change? Do you need to publish your book? Display your art? Create a website? Take that trip to Paris you’ve promised yourself for… oh, say, twenty years?

Second, start the alchemy process of completion.
Show yourself you can finish things on a smaller scale to build confidence. For example:

  • ·         Clean out your garage, closets and drawers. Give stuff to Goodwill.
  • ·         Reorganize those cluttered shelves in the kitchen.
  • ·         Feng shui your living room, bedroom, office space to reinspire you.
  • ·         Update your finances and track your numbers. Get clear on income and expenses and accounts.
  • ·         Write that friend or relative a handwritten letter or card. Go to the post office and mail it.
  • ·         Fix the curtains. Mend your trousers. Call your mother.

In other words, FINISH whatever has been taking up BRAIN SPACE so that you can get moving on what is REALLY important.

And looky here! It’s springtime, and we are given the energy and increasing daylight to gather strength for the road ahead.  Why not consider clearing the decks and making space to finish that thing you started (even if it was in your head) a long time ago? This spring, perhaps it’s time to summon the Alchemy of Completion.
