Advance Praise for Erin Reese's new book

TRUTH SEEKER:

A SPIRITUAL ADVENTURE OF

LOVE, LOSS, AND LIBERATION

"If you read a lot of “spiritual” books, as I do, you can be filled to the brim with theory. Truth Seeker is what happens in one woman's life when the theories become fact in the day-to-day. There's romance – human-to-human and human-to-India – and courage and humor and an incredible degree of acceptance of life as it comes and where it is. And that might be the essence of those spiritual books, after all."

—Victoria Moran, author of The Good Karma Diet, cofounder of The Compassion Consortium

“Erin Reese’s excellent new book is a deep dive into the heart, dedication, and courage required while on the spiritual awakening journey. This book isn’t merely about truth seeking; it’s about truth finding. The book is far more than a journey into the spiritual cornucopia of India; it’s an inspirational nudge into the deepest depths of your own heart. Do you have the courage? The dedication? I highly recommend this book to both glistening spiritual newbies and jaded old-timers. After reading I was left in a beautiful, resonant, heartfelt state. This alone is worth the price of admission.”

—J. Stewart Dixon, author of Spirituality for Badasses: How to Find Inner Peace and Happiness Without Losing Your Cool

“So often overlooked on today’s spiritual path is the mystical bond with a guru to support the journey to self-realization. Ramesh Balsekar was a laser beam of integrity and a fountain of peace. This book shows the transformative blessing of meeting such a master on one who is passionate and sincere. One that has the power to surrender.”

— Prajnaparamita, spiritual master, author of Wings of Freedom

Let Freedom Ring: Full Moon in Capricorn

Beloved friends, clients, readers,

Tonight we honor the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in the sign of Capricorn. This full moon of July is celebrated in India as Guru Purnima, wherein we honor our greatest spiritual teachers. While I can't physically travel to Mumbai this year, I am tuning in virtually with my friends there to give thanks to my advaita (non-duality) Teacher, Ramesh Balsekar, who left the body in 2009.

How are your teachers showing up in your life today? Whether they are with you in body or spirit, their voices and influence are surely reverberating in your steps. When we have a relationship based on raw truth and honest development, sometimes the teachings come in blissful grace, and sometimes they come in hard knocks and rough challenges. But if we look closely, we can feel also the protection of the teacher and the teachings with us, even in the worst situations. We are surrounded with Love and Grace.

Some folks consider Nature to be their greatest teacher. Some, a parent or older friend, a mentor, or relative. Others have more pointed relationships with a person or lineage. Ultimately, the guru-teacher lives within as The Self, and that realization is Liberation. All That Is. Oneness.

It has never been more obvious in these chaotic and confusing unfolding events of 2020. True freedom is only in present time. We must cling to our sword of truth, our sheer clarity of what is Here, in the moment, happening now. A teacher may help you understand that all you need to know, all you need to own, is directly in front of you, and within you. You are not separate from All That Is. A teacher may help redirect you to What Is. A teacher may help you see through the illusions that create unneeded suffering.

And, it is not a path for the meek. It takes courage and a determination to come out of the hiding, to be freed from the excruciating contortion of ego-identification. With grace, we receive the clearest, no-compromising pointers to living in Reality.

Wishing you all a beautiful Independence Day, July 4.
Let freedom ring. May you be free from suffering.
With love,
Erin

Women's Spiritual Counseling Group - Thursdays, 9am PT

Sophia - Alex Grey

Dear Women Readers,

Are you feeling a call for deep feminine support?
I'm offering an alternative and affordable form of
spiritual counseling for women.

Announcing openings to join the Thursday Women's Group! 9am PT weekly

Receive deep spiritual support and counseling with a small group of sister-goddesses. Remember... we are all emanations of the Divine Feminine. We all have the Triple Goddess - maiden, mother, crone - within and without. She guides our every movement, and we are Her.

In recent sessions, the group has been focusing on women's spirituality, self-healing, and psycho-spiritual holding. Some of the topics we have been discussing include sexuality, body image, aging, mothers and fathers, cultural misogyny, grief and loss, recovery from codependence, boundaries, and more.

We may fold in discussions of the tarot and other ways of knowing, intuition, the enneagram, the inner child, and creative expression. We will continue this work starting this week, and we have an opening for a few new women members.

Details

Thursdays, 9am to 10:15am Pacific (75 minutes, weekly)
The group will last four weeks. These sessions will be 4-6 participants.
May 14, May 21, May 28, June 3

Each group asks for a four-week commitment. After four weeks, the timing will be reevaluated together. We may very well continue the group.

Cost
Series of Four Group Sessions: Sliding Scale $150 to $250

PayPal, Card, or Venmo

Description
In this four-week group, you will receive the holding and spiritual direction you most need at this time in a supportive, loving environment. We will adhere to group confidentiality. As a facilitator, teacher and spiritual therapist, I will create a safe container for you and the other women. I will guide you – sometimes gently, sometimes with fierce grace – to self-heal and examine your intuitive and knowing, your fears and state of consciousness.

Each session will begin with a few minutes’ presentation on a prominent theme that I sense the group is facing, i.e. principles and tools for self-healing and awakening. This will be followed by consulting and dialoguing, one-on-one, with me in the group setting.

You will learn and grow through your own one-on-one work with me, by witnessing other’s processes, and through your own wholehearted presence. The understanding and support will be amplified by the group alchemy.

Prerequisites:
  • Having had some background in your own personal spiritual development and or therapy or counseling.
  • A brief check-in with Erin by email to confirm your interest and enrollment.
  • Agreement to group confidentiality and guidelines
  • A willingness to listen and witness others’ processes of psychospiritual unfoldment, to examine your own self and practice self-reflection on a regular basis; a commitment to develop an inner life and connection to self.
It is for women who would like to:
  • Grow in connection and self-understanding with a group of women
  • Have access to affordable counseling
  • Benefit from a group shared experience
  • Supplement individual counseling

If you are called, I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.

With love,

Erin

Frighten Me and Make Me Shy

"The day I no longer do anything that frightens me and makes me shy I will know I am finished as a writer."
~ Ellen Gilchrist, Falling Through Space
Bill's Place, West Harlem Speakeasy, NYC

As I wrote in my blog to all of you at the end of 2019, I intended to veer away from astrological writing and forecasts as we moved into 2020. Why?

For a long time I have felt like I’ve been hobbling along with astro forecasting, like I’ve been trying to cram the aspects of full and new moons into what I want to really say, e.g. I would start an article with, “Today we welcome the New Moon in the fixed air sign of Aquarius, the rebellious, unpredictable Water Bearer. It is a time of embracing our inner freak, misfit, humanitarian.”

Maceo Parker, Blue Note, West Village, NYC
When what I really wanted to say was much more straightforward, not fitting it into the stars, i.e. “What happens when we open ourselves up to spontaneity, trust, and flow?

We have a night in New York that includes a granddaddy of funk horn, Maceo Parker, in a night at the Blue Note in the West Village. Just like that, you’re meeting two new friends who are Native New Yorkers, around your same age and vibe, and are music freaks just like you. The night is made complete by catching a favorite DJ, Rich Medina, whom you know from Oakland, who happens to be spinning in the Meatpacking District. All this is topped off the next night at a true-blue speakeasy in West Harlem (Bill’s Place) at the same joint where Billie Holiday was discovered in 1933.”

Now that’s getting my juices going!

Children's Sculpture Garden, Morningside Heights, NYC
For the last few years, I would box myself in and would write a forecast instead of what I really wanted to say. As I mentioned the other day, I wanted to get back to the type of writing which is really a way of LIVING AND SEEING THE WORLD. Writing is really a way of life. And my life is my art. In fact: Life is Art.

I’m hoping that you, my beloved clients and readers, will continue to devour my words. That you’ll come along with me on the journey. That you’ll find inspiration in these musings. Because, in addition to being an intuitive consultant and spiritual counselor, I am a teacher, a truly free Aquarian, a communicator. A visionary.

A writer.

For God’s sake, capitalize that sh*t.

A Writer.

The Gilchrist quote at the top of this piece says it all. So good, I'll repeat it:

"The day I no longer do anything that frightens me and makes me shy I will know I am finished as a writer."
~ Ellen Gilchrist, Falling Through Space

We found the Journals of Ellen Gilchrist (Falling Into Space, 1987), American novelist, in our Upper West Side Airbnb. I only had to flip it open to a random spot to feel my heart soaring. A writer! Writing about the life of a writer! Gush, gush, swoon, swoon!

Lennon Memorial, Strawberry Fields, Central Park, NYC

Reminded me of another kindred spirit, May Sarton, who inspired me some years back with her Journal of a Solitude (1973).

I always get a bit nervous when I read such pieces, because they make me quiver with The Fear, the possibility that bleeds into a knowing, seeing out of the corner of my psyche, that I might just very well drop out of society as I current live in it, and settle into a long summer or winter nap and write my brains out.

How to do that while keeping my pocketbook flush, my retirement going, all of that noise?

I’m pretty much trusting that all of you are going to stay with me on this journey - whether as clients, students, or inspired readers. That you won’t run and hide because you prefer to hear what the Moon is up to. That you’ll find some steam hidden in these posts, steam that will power up your own creative engine: Your Heart. And start chugging toward that latent dream of yours.

It might be starting a Tarot consultation practice (want to join my Tarot mentoring group that starts tomorrow?), or having a baby (go for it! Why wait if that’s your dream! Twasn't my destiny as I’m far too in need of solitude, but I want YOU to be a mother or father if it makes you swoon!). Or falling in love (are you online? Try OK Cupid and pay for premium service!), or publishing your book (really, no excuse these days with Amazon online publishing options – ignore the inner critic that says it must be a New York Times Bestseller. I cannot tell you how many "NY Times Bestsellers" I’ve picked up and promptly tossed aside as the writing is often horribly basic and the content is obvious. What’s the word? Pedestrian? Think about it.)

Your Life is Your Art. You are Art. Life Itself, is Art. And You are That.

Start mixing your colors, baby.
