Today, March 16, beaming bountifully upon us (8:08 p.m. UT), we have a Full Moon in the earthy, mutable sign of Virgo.
Diligent and conscientious Virgo often gets a hard rap.
People like to pick on the painstaking, practical sign, ironically
calling the Virgin “picky.” Well, without the attention to detail and process-oriented grounding of Virgo, gardens would never get tended, children wouldn’t
get off to school on time, kitchens wouldn’t get cleaned. Dog wouldn’t get walked, new computer programs wouldn’t exist, and screenplays wouldn’t
get edited.
I love Virgo industriousness. Perhaps it’s because I have
three planets in the Sixth House of Service, ruled by Virgo, so I’m a worker
bee by nature. The challenge (as with any sign's qualities) is when Virgo “doing” modality
runs amok. Then, it’s like a virus out of control, and as my double Virgo
sister describes it, she enters the relentless realm of "the Hamster Wheel": the
doing never ceases. There is always
more to accomplish. But that’s über-thorough Virgo out
of balance.
At this Full Moon time, we can make the best use of our
pruning, sheering, tending and focusing energies to serve Life Itself. That may
mean serving our work by completing a project, handling the numbers of our
taxes, or finally cleaning out the fridge.
"How May I Serve?"
The best approach to service is the selfless way, called seva in Sanskrit/yoga philosophy.
Service is vital to healing; only through service can we keep what we’ve gained
in life – by giving it away. It is the ultimate reward. We see it in the happy panting of a dog we’ve just walked, the blissed-out gaze of a
partner whom we’ve just massaged, the appreciative hug of a neighbor you’ve just driven to a
doctor’s appointment.
All of this is made juicier by having zero expectation of
receiving something in turn. The ‘tit for tat’ approach does not apply in
selfless service. The reward, like karma yoga, lies in the doing itself –
action for action’s sake.
Results and returns? They’re the cherry on top.
On action alone be thy
interest,
Never on its fruits.
Let not the fruits of action be
thy motive,
Nor be thy attachment to
inaction.

Full Moon in Virgo
Sunday, March 16, 2014
After purifying my super-charged Universal Waite Tarot deck and calling upon my guides, here are my channeled messages for the Full Moon in Virgo…
XII
– HANGED MAN
The Full Moon in Virgo falls while
the Sun is still in selfless Pisces. Here we focus on giving without
expectation of reward. We’re all amping up our spiritual bank accounts. Who’s
keeping track? Life itself. Keep investing by sharing what you have, whether it
be time, money, love, or mentoring. You are embodying holy seva.
ARIES:
FOUR
OF CUPS
Contemplate your next move, Aries, before flying off the handle and executing tasks,
half-cocked. Your action plan is going to take some time to implement, Better
to take 25% more time to plan before you begin; it will all proceed so much
smoother.
TAURUS:
FIVE OF CUPS
Transiting Saturn in Scorpio has been
opposing your Taurean Sun since October 2012. You may feel challenged by Life more than ever the past year.
If you trust that losses leave room for new gains, your mood will brighten
immediately. Keep your eye on the sunny side.
GEMINI:
NINE OF SWORDS
Uh-oh, the ‘thinking monster’ might
be attempting to infiltrate your busy brain space, Gemini. Especially at night.
These thought patterns are NOT you! They aren’t even true! Practice ignoring
mind chatter and focus on calming your nervous system. Get ready for bed much
earlier.
CANCER:
NINE OF WANDS
It’s time for you to call off the
struggle. If you try to do too much, your mood will just go south. If you are
cranky or crabby, maybe you’re trying to prove your worth by doing too much.
You are whole and perfect exactly as you are, not as you do!
LEO:
THE EMPRESS
Spring weather is here and you are
LOVING it. Use some of the Virgo Full Moon energy to plant a garden or do some
deep spring cleaning and nurture your home. You have so much love to share with
the rest of us, and you do it with your own special blend of shining your light
on your loved ones.
VIRGO:
THREE OF WANDS
Keep your eye on the big picture,
Virgo, and have a great big overview in mind so you don’t get lost in the
details. Imagine you’re on a mountaintop looking down on all your life
projects. Prioritize. What is most important and what needs to happen first?
LIBRA:
SEVEN OF WANDS
Your job is to stay balanced in head
and heart no matter what flurry of activities is flying in your direction.
Learn to stand your ground and be firm in your conviction. Focus on the most
important tasks, projects, and values to avoid distractions that whittle away
at your energy.
SCORPIO:
HIEROPHANT
You are being called to give a bit
of volunteer service to a group you are involved with. Serve a school, church,
spiritual group, or community activity. Your power and commitment are needed.
It will be good for your soul.
SAGITTARIUS:
SAGITTARIUS:
THE DEVIL
As a Sag, you love life sometimes to
excess and hedonistic qualities might be rearing their heads. Where might you
tend to overdo it? At this time of high Virgo energy, we are asked to remember:
all things in moderation (including moderation). Add a bit of clean-up
committee to your daily habits. Just a wee bit!
CAPRICORN:
SIX OF CUPS
Serving the kids and gardens in your world is a wise use of Virgo Full Moon energy, especially during the springtime. Even planting a small crop of flowers, or herbs like basil, or a bush of lavender – small gestures make a big difference to the earthy Sea goat. Show a young person how to care for the earth.

AQUARIUS:
TWO OF SWORDS
Should you apply your ingenious
skills and energy to this arena or project, or that one? Where to begin? What
choice is BEST? With so much to DO, it can be easy to get confused. The best
advice now is not to think. When in doubt, just act. Period.
PISCES:
THREE OF SWORDS
Sometimes Life taketh away and says ‘no’ to us,
or ‘not right now.’ This is a good exercise in trust. Yes, it can hurt
sensitive Piscean hearts. See what you can do to have compassion for other
humans right now. By serving those creatures less fortunate than you, you will
feel enriched and healed. You’re so good at caring. Start with your self, Fishy Fish!
